about
superorganism is a los angeles design/build studio creating unique projects that range from
furniture and lighting to architectural interventions. superorganism is a process and an approach to design that reconsiders assumptions about objects to arrive at an integrated and complete design solution.
superorganism starts at the beginning with a question: What do you want your space to do? superorganism is a design solution that is specific to your space with an emphasis on function.
superorganism recognizes that a design is shaped and exists in its relationship to other objects and structures. superorganism values informal materials and solves the joining and structural problems of a design with a preference for an intuitively self-evident solution of visual simplicity.
superorganism includes the perceptual experience of a design with the understanding of an object through light as parts of a complete design solution. Tom Villa started superorganism in 2009.
